This is a web site dedicated to the hobby of building and racing Pinewood Derby Cars. Pinewood derby cars are made from shaping a small block of wood, adding wheels and weight, and then racing them down a 20-25 foot sloped track. The cars are propelled strictly by gravity. The Royal Rangers, Boy scouts, and other youth organizations have had pinewood derby competitions for over sixty years. The competitions consist of awards for the fastest cars as well as awards for the best looking cars. When it comes to pine wood derby, the word “car” is used quite loosely, as many of the cars are not cars at all, but anything creative that will fit within size and weight limit, such as other types of vehicles, animals, and food items. Whether you are new to Pinewood Derby or are already a pro, I hope this site will be fun and helpful to you.
